In November, we sell some of the rams we have used for breeding. They are either 1 or 2 years old. These are commercial Katahdins: purebred yes, but not registered. These are rams which have passed our selection process and deemed good enough to use for our own flock. We select and cull rigorously for traits which support our grass-fed meat business: fertility, prolifigacy, mothering ability, weight gain on pasture, response to parasite pressure, and foot health.
